Emma 2nd Act Ep1-5

I've decided to give this anime a try since I've been hearing rave views about it. The story is about an aristocrat, William Jones who falls in love with Emma, a house maid. But such a relationship was deem impossible in the Victorian era. Feeling dejected and wanting to start a new life, Emma moved out of London and went to Germany to work but fate would bring them together again.

There are actually 2 seasons to this anime and I was contemplating on whether to watch the 1st season first. But being who I am, I went to watch the 2nd season first :P

The first few episodes were mainly about how Emma and William are adjusting to life without one another. William, not knowing where Emma is and feeling helpless, decides to marry Eleanor Campbell, a family with royalty. This really frustrates me as he could have tried to search for Emma but this foolish decision will come to haunt him later. And Eleanor being very much in love with William will be hurt too.

Meanwhile, Emma's life in Germany seems good but deep down, she thinks of William dearly. While working there, she grabs the attention of another man, Hans who I guess likes her but doesn't know how to express his feelings (yet). Moving to episode 5 (which is the most memorable one to me), Emma and William met in London again and unfortunately it was to be at his engagement party. Emma was actually accompanying his mum to the party as a companion and because she wasn't wearing her glasses, she didn't know it was William standing in front of her. Anyway, the best part was to see both their expressions when they realised it (because with Emma dressed so elegantly, he couldn't recognised her at first). You could see the hurt that Emma felt and she fainted on the spot. Anyway, after being with his friends (I guess he has to act normal in front of the high society people), William then rushed down to the hotel to embrace her (awwwww).

Impression:

I enjoyed the show tremendously. The animation's quite good and the storyline is well written. The whole vibe of the show is very calm and the details of the Victorian times (especially the city and the clothes) are well portrayed here.

The love story might not strike a core to people because it was set in a time where there is a division in society. An aristocrat cannot, by any means be with a maid. In the modern times, I guess love conquers all but back in the old days, this will be frowned upon.

Anyway I can't wait to see what happens next, I guess William will grasp with the foolish mistake he did. And not forgetting there's Hans, so it'll be like a love triangle or rectangle (with Eleanor included). But after so many obstacles, I've got a feeling that William and Emma will end up together. Well, that's what I'm guessing but I might be wrong. Anyway 7 more episodes to go...
