Basically, after meeting Emma, William decides to annul his engagement which of course, makes his dad mad. We also get to see a flash back of how William's dad, Richard Jones met his mum. By the way, his mum lives away from the family as she can't take the stress of being among the aristocrats.
Anyway, it seems that William is determined to break off the engagement and goes to look for Eleanor's father about it. Eleanor knows about this and breaks down. I kind of pity Eleanor here as she was a third wheel all along and there wasn't any space in William's heart for her. She should have known about this but I guess she was just happy being proposed.

Back to Emma, she returns to Germany and the other maids notice that she's working too hard and seem a little distant. Anyway, gossip travels among the aristocracy and maids about William annulling his marriage. Emma knows about this and becomes depressed. Anyway, fate has it that her employer decides to return to England and while the maids were discussing about the gossip, she overhears it and runs out of the house. Hans than follows her and consoles her (added points for Hans). William, even goes to find Emma to ask for her hand in marriage.
Anyway, due to the gossip, the House of Jones has become social outcasts and are the butt of jokes among the social elites. The investors for their businesses are also withdrawing from their joint ventures and this is due to the pressure of Eleanor's dad (he's a jerk). Anyway, William knowing that this was due to his indecisiveness, decides to seek help from other investors. In the meanwhile, after the proposal, William goes to find Emma everyday, rain or shine to wait for her answer but Emma ignores him. Hans then decides to talk to him saying that Emma might have a change in heart (!!!!). And later on, Hans asked Emma for a date and proposes to her too (gosh!!!).
William knowing that he has to be determined in letting Emma know that he loves her, goes to the neighbour's balcony to declare his feelings once again (awwww). So basically, everyone knows that the maid in question is her.
William: I want to live the rest of my life with you......If you don't marry me, that's a possibility that I would be completely crushed from the pain...But if I were with you, Emma..both of us together than I believe we can overcome it..No matter what others say or think, I'm certain. I will definitely not quit or abandon you halfway...
Emma: You are making it difficult for me.William: One week from today, this time, I'll be waiting for you at the fountain at Crystal Palace (I think that's the place they went for their first date). That being said, William manages to get the money he needs (after getting a tough time from everyone) to save his father's business and rushes to Crystal Palace. Emma also rushes off and decides to give William her answer. Both of them get together at last and hugs each other....ohh..there was a tender kiss at the end...
William: I love you, Emma. Will you marry me?
Emma: Yes.Aftermath:Emma leaves her workplace with William and everyone says bye to her. Hans is sitting at the stairs and is called a fool by one of the maids but he just smiles (well, eventually he did encourage Emma to find William and he knows that Emma only loves William). William's father meets up with Eleanor's father at a social event and both trade insults (hehe..anyway just to let you know, the whole family somewhat supports William on being with Emma).
Eleanor is seen playing the piano and grabs the attention of a man (good for her!!) and William's mum received a letter from Emma saying that she has 4 children and without her, she might not have met William again.
The last scene shows Emma writing the same letter and is asked to go to the garden by William.
William: The lilies you grew have blossomed nicely.
Emma: Do you know the flower word for lilies of the valley?William: No. Emma: Happiness will return. Both of them smiles with their 4 children playing at the garden. All of these events are shown with the ending song being played (Silhouette of a Breeze).
Impression:The pace of the show is good. The summary might seem like the typical soap opera but it's not. Because of the storyline and the pacing of the show, it doesn't seem melodramatic. The pace is well set and it really gives you a good feeling about the whole story.
You wouldn't feel frustrated or exhausted by it. The artwork for the anime is excellent. It definitely puts across the Victorian era with the light pastel colours. The characters of the supporting cast are also well developed, there's Nanette, a nice girl who Emma saves in the 1st Ep, Hakim, an Indian prince and William's confidant, William's family, Eleanor's sister, Emma's employer and the maids.
Overall, it's a nice romance story that shows that through diversity, people still can still be together..
